John Painter is a 2016 SS/RHP with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Knoxville, TN who attends Farragut HS. Smaller young build with the beginnings of some present strength. Right handed hitter, short quick line drive swing, handles the barrel well, consistent solid contact, showed game ability to make adjustments to off-speed pitches, contact/high average hitter with a feel for hitting, should continue to improve with additional strength. 7.51 runner, second base tools and profile, moves through the ball well in the infield, accurate arm with develop arm strength. Also pitched, showed better arm strength on the mound than in the infield, fastball topped out at 77 mph from a high 3/4's arm slot, hides the ball well and has some deception, gets good depth on an upper 60's curveball, throws all pitches for strikes. Plays with energy and has a good feel for the game for his age. Good student.
