Garrett Ellis is a 2007 MIF/3B with a 6'2'', 170 lb. frame from Woodside CA, who attends St. Francis. Ellis has a taller body with a lean athletic build. Defensively, Ellis has solid arm strength with an over the top release. He has a good quick release and moves to the ball well. Ellis had a great defensive showcase at 3B and showed excellent defensive actions playing third base in game. In game he made an outstanding running play on a slow roller to prevent an infield single which really showed his body control. At the plate, he starts with an open stance with a wide base. Ellis has a high hand set pre-pitch and drops his hands at load to start his swing. Ellis has a good bat path to the ball and looks to hit the ball to all fields. Ellis generates solid bat speed and is able to get good extension at contact. Ellis has a good tool set that will allow some versatility at the next level. Ellis is a good student.
