2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Zack Stanton is a 2006 SS/2B/3B with a 6'0'', 160 lb. frame from Marietta GA, who attends Kennesaw Mountain HS. He has a lean and athletic frame. Stanton showed very smooth actions playing the middle infield, with quick feet, plus body control and sure hands. He showed very good range in getting to some ground balls and can really charge the ball and make plays. Stanton's arm strength is best suited to second base at the next level but he's a play maker who can fill in at shortstop as well. At the plate, Stanton hits from a no load type approach with a line drive swing plane and an open stance. His open stance tends to make him hit around the ball and try to pull instead of hitting to all fields as his strength dictates. Stanton showed some bat speed and has a tension free swing, so he can continue to improve. Stanton is a good student.
