Ethan Hayes is a 2017 OF/1B, 3B with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Cedar Falls, IA who attends Cedar Falls. Large frame with a strong, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Primary outfielder with deliberate footwork while rounding, then aggressively closes to the baseball creating good momentum. Clean glove actions while picking up baseball with smooth glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Flashed good arm strength from a compact arm slot, topped at 89 mph. Throws produced good carry to the bag with developing accuracy. Right handed hitter with a spread, straight stance and leg lift trigger. Lower half launches to contact with aggressive linear actions creating good shift. Hands launch on a compact, direct path to baseball creating a line drive plane with occasional leverage through extension. Works to the baseball between the gaps and flashes good jump off the barrel when squared. Shows the the bat speed and hand skills to turn the barrel to contact and create hard, loud contact to the pull side gap. Repeats swing mechanics well while staying balance through finish. Very good student. Named to the 2016 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
