Jake Laberge is a 2016 1B/RHP with a 6-0 220 lb. frame from Round Rock, TX who attends Meridian. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength in build. Primary first baseman, wide base and stays low when fielding, fields ground balls out front well, full arm action on throws across with strength that will continue to develop. Also pitched, throws from an over the top arm action with a loose arm action in the back. Stays balanced through delivery and generates nice extension out front. Stays online with lower half with a nice follow through. Showed a feel for three pitches, fastball topped at 76 mph and mixed in an 11-5 curveball and a changeup at 69 mph. Left-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow. Shows rhythm and balance in swing, creates extension and makes contact out front. Upper body swing, front side open early at times, has a feel for the barrel and shows strength to pull side.
