Phillip Childs is a 2016 OF/MIF, 3B with a 5-5 150 lb. frame from Euless, TX who attends Trinity. Athletic frame with room to fill out with added strength in the future. Ran a 7.19 60-yard dash. Short arm action on throws from the outfield with a quick release, needs to incorporate lower half into actions in the outfield. Shows quick feet with nice athleticism in the infield, has range to both sides with smooth hands and accurate throws across the diamond. Right-handed batter, starts with a high hand set and a narrow base. Very simple swing mechanics which allow him to repeat well, line drive swing plane with a short path to the ball. Consistently gets the barrel to the ball with ability to hit to all fields. Nice hit tools that will continue to improve as he adds strength. Very good student.
