David Rainwater is a 2017 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Sheridan, AR who attends Sheridan. Large, athletic build with broad shoulders and present strength in his frame. Ran a 7.42 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, throws from a high three-quarter arm slot with a shorter arm action in the back. Front side opens early but shows a quick arm and with the incorporation of his lower half, projects for more velocity. Topped out at 81 mph with his fastball with nice cutting action. Also showed a short breaking slider at 72 mph. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a low hand set. Short, direct path to the ball, line drive swing plane with line drive contact to all fields, shows a feel to hit to the opposite way. Gets to front side early at times, shows nice present strength to pull side with carry off barrel. Outstanding student.
