Ben Cornwell is a 2007 RHP/1B/OF with a 6'3'', 186 lb. frame from Atlanta GA, who attends Holy Innocents HS. He has long legs and a slender, evenly proportioned body that is very projectable. Cornwell has an easy, quick arm action and sound pitching mechanics. He resembles Jared Weaver mechanically and in the way he attacks hitters in the strike zone. He throws a bit across his body from a 3/4's release point. Cornwell threw 85-87 mph on his fastball and it's easy to see him gaining velocity as he gets stronger. His best pitch was a big, big sharp breaking 69 mph curveball with 2-plane movement that froze hitters frequently. Cornwell also threw a 75 mph change up that is developing. Cornwell is a very nice looking young pitcher for the next level. Strong Follow. Cornwell is also a good student.
