Benjamin McCardle is a 2018 RHP/SS with a 5-7 150 lb. frame from Cottonwood, AL who attends Cottonwood HS. Compact shorter build with a strong lower half. Well balanced leg lift delivery with good gather over the rubber, stays compact with his arm and mechanics, simple delivery with few moving parts, lands closed and is a bit cross body at release, hides the ball well from the hitters and has some deception, tight 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 76 mph, mostly straight. Has a lower arm slot on his breaking ball with a sweeping break and pretty good depth. Mixed in an occasional knuckleball as a change up. Did a good job of throwing strikes and mixing his pitches. Right handed hitter, upright even stance, long upper body driven swing, stays balanced well and swings hard, works gap to gap and flashed some pop when squared. 7.27 runner, clean actions in the infield with fundamentally sound footwork, makes accurate throws.
