Brendan Welch is a 2015 LHP/1B with a 6-2 220 lb. frame from Easton, MA who attends Oliver Ames. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders, long limbs, and a strong frame throughout. Ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, throws from a three-quarter arm slot with a short arm action coming through the back side. Steady tempo delivery with nice balance throughout, slight hip turn at top, gets on top of the ball well and creates angle from the first base side. Fastball topped out at 83 mph and shows ability to spot to both sides of the plate and hold velocity from the stretch. Slow arm action on curveball slightly, shows 2-8 shape and a feel for the pitch at 70 mph, flashed a changeup at 63 mph. Fields cleanly at first base, shows a quick and accurate arm across the diamond. Left-handed hitter, starts with an even stance and a high hand set that stays close to his body. Shows nice bat speed with natural lift in swing, front side opens early at times, shows power to pull side gap with nice jump and carry off of the barrel. Good student.
