Gilberto Navarro is a 2008 C/OF with a 5'11", 170 lb frame from Kennesaw, GA who attends Marist HS. Gilberto has a lean athletic build with some room to fill out. At the plate Gilberto hits from a wide balanced stance with a line-drive swing plane. He makes solid contact at the plate, but can get in trouble as his swing will get too long. He needs to work on staying inside the ball and get his lower half more involved in his swing. Behind the plate Gilberto is a solid receiver and does a fairly good job of getting rid of the ball. Once he gets a little more arm strength he should be an above average catch and throw guy. Gilberto is a strong student that should attract the attention of some small to mid-level college programs.
