Andrew Lieber is a 2007 2B/P from Maine South Township in Park Ridge, IL, with a 5'8'', 155 lb. frame. He has a young body that hasn't started getting strong yet. Lieber ran the 60 in 7.37 and showed 74 mph arm strength during infield drills. He has soft hands on defense, especially to the backhand side, and developing arm strength. Lieber hits from an open stance with an early pre-load with his hands and hips and still start to his bat. He never gets his hips closed and opens his upper body early to get the bat going. More strength will help him develop bat speed. Lieber also pitched and threw well. His fastball topped out at 75 mph and he threw a 61 mph curveball with good sweeping break and a 64 mph change up. Lieber threw strikes and competed well. He is a very good student off the field.
