Calen Pennington is a 6'2" 205 pound 2006 right handed pitcher and first baseman from Sierra Vista, Arizona who attends Buena High School. He has a tall long frame with a thick strong build. Calen throws from and overhand arm slot with a short compact arm action. His fastball has good run at 80 mph. His curveball at 66 mph is tight with a 12/6 rotation. Pennington has a good line drive swing plane and shows good power to his pull side. He turns on balls on the inside half of the plate with his quick hands. He shows good arm strength in the field by throwing 80 mph across the infield from first base during the workout. He also has a solid glove. Calen is a good prospect with two way potential at the next level.
