2006 California Underclass
Aaron Ayon is a 2008 RHP/1B from Montgomery HS, residing in San Diego, CA, with a 6'1" 180 lb. frame. Has a good body and is well-proportioned with strength. On the mound he showed a high 3/4 slot and a long arm action. It was a good arm action that came out of a simple delivery which was pretty efficient. He fell a little off line but overall was pretty sound. Ayon showed good feel for the ball, though with limited arm strength. He can pitch and showed decent aggressiveness to the zone. Offensively he was the rare showcase player that committed to a team at-bat. His barrel was to the ball pretty well in BP. He employs a no-stride approach and showed decent balance. His hands work and his path is good. There is some length in his swing but he has a chance to hit with some pop. Defensively he showed a decent release and decent feel for defense. Ayon is a follow '08 grad due to his bat. It is likely that his bat takes him further than his pitching.
