Brian Bianchi is a 2007 INF/OF from St. Francis HS, residing in Los Altos, CA, with a 5'10", 165 lb. frame. He has an athletic type build, certainly so for a middle infielder. Bianchi is a good all-around player. He hits from a slightly open stance with hands held high. During his swing he maintains good balance while his hands work well in that swing. The ball exits Bianchi's bat well and he does a nice job of working to stay in middle of field with a line drive/spray type swing. His barrel stays in the zone which will allow him to put more balls in play, and even get some knocks without making great contact. Bianchi has a quick bat and gets through the ball well with some gap pop. He makes consistent contact and in the future he likely will find himself somewhere near the top of the order because of his contact ability and his spray stroke. Defensively he sets up to ball well in outfield, and has been coached well in the fundamentals of outfield play. As an infielder he fields from wide base and does a nice job of staying down. He has a pretty quick release which will serve him well on the double play ball. Bianchi plays in a strong high school program that has produced numerous D1 players, and early indications are that Bianchi will have an opportunity to move on to D1 ball as well. He is a good '07 follow for most West Coast D1 programs. His current strength is being a middle infielder with a good bat.
