Andrew Maas is a 2007 RHP/OF with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from St Albans MO, who attends Washington HS. He has a square shouldered build with good present strength. He has a sound, balanced delivery at the top but opens his front side very early and lands open, costing him lots of leverage and velocity. Maas' fastball topped out at 81 mph and he did a good job spotting it around the strike zone. Maas' best pitch was a 64 mph curveball that had good spin and a deep 11/5 type of break. He mixed in a few change ups at 71 mph. Maas had a good idea how to mix up his pitches and get hitters to swing the bat. Maas also swung the bat pretty well, using his strength to create solid bat speed with an inside out swing that produced hard line drives to the right side of the field. Maas is a very good student and will be going to school at Meremec CC.
