Charley Olson is a 2006 RHP/OF with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Largo FL, who attends Clearwater Central Catholic HS. He is a long, lean, and athletic looking pitcher with a projectable body. On the mound he throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm with a whip-like action. Olson stays upright in his delivery with a long arm circle on the back side. He gets good run and sink on his fastball that topped out at 81 mph. His heavy fastball will induce many ground balls and break some bats in the future. Olson also mixes in a solid curveball at 67 mph, and a 70 mph changeup with some arm side fade. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with solid bat speed through the hitting zone. Olson has a line drive swing plane with a simple, short, and compact swing from a high hand set. He makes consistent contact putting the ball in play. Defensively he has range in the outfield with solid online carry to his throws. Olson is also a good student.
