2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Adrian Bermudez is a 5'11", 2005 right handed pitcher from Kaufman, TX, with a very strong, quick arm. He has a big leg kick that leans him back in his delivery, but he gets through it well without any balance issues. Bermudez’ release point is high ¾ to overhand, and he generates very good plane to the plate on his pitches, especially for a pitcher his size. Bermudez’ fastball was 88-90 mph, and he maintained his velocity well, throwing more pitches at 90 mph than any other number. Bermudez’ fastball is a bit straight. His best and most effective pitch was a 74-76 mph curveball with hard, sharp downer bite to it. Hitters looking for Bermudez’ heat are going to struggle making contact with this pitch when he throws it low in the zone. After a few uncomfortable attempts at change ups, Bermudez found his arm speed on this pitch and threw some nice ones at 77 mph. Bermudez also had a good showcase with the bat, showing bat speed and a good ability to center the ball.
