Chad Babcock is a 2008 RHP/3B with a 6'3", 220 lb frame from Willow Street, PA who attends Lampeter-Strasburg HS. Chad has a tall medium build and showed a good feel for pitching at the event. On the mound Chad showed sound mechanics with good tempo and really spotted the ball well. Chad showed a sweeping curveball with some late break and had a really good mound presence. He tends to fall a little off to first and needs to make sure he finishes center to the plate. At the plate Chad shows good power potential and the ball jumps off his bat when he connects. His balance is poor at this time causing a few things to go wrong for him. Once he gets more leverage in his swing and learns to stay inside the ball he should see a lot of improvement at the plate. In the field Chad best projects at third base where he has soft hands and a solid arm. His footwork could use a little work at this time. Chad is a solid student that should attract the attention of many mid-level college programs.
