2006 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Kyle Fillier is a 2007 OF/SS with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Toronto ON, who attends Birchmount Park Collegiate. He is a live bodied athlete with some present strength and the promise for more in the future. Fillier is a 6.96 runner who threw very well in the outfield. He got good jumps on balls during the games and worked hard on his defense. He's played some infield in the past and looks athletic enough that that might be a consideration for the future as well. Offensively, Fillier hits from a wide stance with a leg lift trigger to get the bat going. During batting practice this negatively effected his balance and left him leaning backwards but in games he moderated things and was much more balanced. Fillier has strong hands and creates good bat speed and the ball jumps off his bat hard. He crushed a few balls in the games and looked like a mature, powerful hitter. He's the type of athlete who should keep improving as he plays more and more. Keep a close eye on him. Fillier is also a good student.
