A.J. Pettis is a 2007 RHP/C from Racine, Wisconsin, with a 6'0", 175 pound frame. He uses his strong lower body well on the mound, and pitches from a 3/4 slot. He gets arm side run on his fastball at 74-75 mph, and he has decent bite on his 11-5 curveball at 61-63 mph. At the plate he hits from a wide, upright stance, with no load and no stride. He has a long, high finish which causes him to lose bat speed, however, he shows good bat speed and power when he keeps his hands in and goes with the pitch. He had great at bats during the games showing good bat control. Behind the plate, He has a good feel for how to play the position, he just needs to work on his footwork to get quicker laterally, and faster pop times to bases will be a result. A.J. works hard, he is young, and has room to grow, which makes him a very interesting prospect to follow in the future.
