Chuck Matthey is a 2007 OF with a 5'9'', 160 lb. frame from Encinatas, CA, who attends Santa Fe Christian HS. Lean and athletic frame with quick actions. Defensively he has a good release on his throws from the outfield with good arm speed. Matthey gets good carry on his throws and has very good accuracy. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a slightly open and upright stance. Matthey has bat speed through the hitting zone with a line drive swing plane. Stays balanced through his swing and has quick wrists. He gets the bat on the ball well, and shows the ability to hit to the opposite field.
