2007 Southeast Underclass Showcase
Zach Steed is a 2009 MIF/C with a 5'9'', 160 lb. frame from Collinsville, IL who attends Triad HS. He has a lean, small frame with long arms and legs for his height. Steed runs the 60 in 7.48. He has quick, sure hands in the middle infield and a short, quick release that might hide some of his true arm strength. Steed has simple hitting mechanics, with an early pull back load from a slightly open, slightly crouched stance. He doesn't have the strength right now to really drive the ball but controls the bat head well and makes consistent line drive contact to all fields. He battled at the plate and showed he could compete on tough pitches and good pitchers. More strength will help develop his offensive game. Steed is also a good student.
