2006 California Uncommitted Showcase
Andrew Bonafede is a 2007 OF/1B with a 6'0'', 160 lb. frame from Camas WA, who attends Camas HS. He has a wiry, lithe body type that is still in the development stages, with more strength and size to come in the next couple of years. Bonafede is a talented player and yet there is still a lot of development ahead for him. He has not even come close to his ceiling as a player. He is good hitter, with a short, compact, line drive swing. Bonafede has good hand speed and swings easy. The ball carries a bit off his bat, which combined with is hand speed and future strength gains, suggests that there is some power in his future. He works the count well and did a very good job of staying on offspeed pitches. He is quite polished with the bat. Defensively Bonafede is also very good. He goes back on the ball very well, which starts with his good reads and jumps off the bat. His arm is quick and with the way the ball exits his hand (good), it is apparent that his arm strength is still developing. He has a quick release too. Follow him closely because Bonafede is the type of player that could make big jumps in a hurry.
