Corey Wannamaker is a 2007 C/P with a 6'0'', 210 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA, who attends Castle Park HS. McKnight has broad shoulders with present strength. Defensively he gets a good hip turn on his throws to second base showing a strong arm at 77 mph. Also gets rid of the ball quickly producing pop times under 2.00, with a best of 1.96. Wannamaker receives well with soft hands, and worked well blocking balls in the dirt. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away stance with a wide base. He takes a short stride and has a good bat path through the zone. Wannamaker has quick hands with a short and compact swing, and has projectable power. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a smooth arm action. He throws from the stretch and shows good presence on the mound. Wannamaker has good control and works ahead in the count. His fastball topped out at 80 mph, and mixed in a solid curveball at 65 mph with depth. Wannamaker is also a very good student.
