2007 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Sam Tracy is a 2007 C/OF with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Marion, Iowa, who attends Linn Mar High School. Tracy has a lean and athletic build with some projection. He has solid speed in the sixty (7.19) and he really hustles on the bases and in game action. Defensively he has a very high release point on his throws from behind the plate. Tracy shows the ability to block balls well to both sides. At the plate he hits from an upright stance with a high back elbow. There is a slight lift in his swing, but he stays inside the ball showing the ability to hit to all fields. Tracy tracks the curve ball well and picks it up early out of the pitcher's hand. He made solid contact in game action to the pull side. He is a good student who shows hustle on the field.
