2007 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Joseph Epperson is a 2009 MIF/3B with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Lafayette, CA who attends Miramonte HS. He has an average frame and a lean build with room to fill out. Epperson is a good young player. He plays athletically and somewhat instinctively, reacting well to situations. Epperson hits from a narrow set-up and is aggressively on the plate. He has good hands that work well and a quick bat. The ball jumped off Epperson's bat surprisingly well, with some present day power and the promise of more in the future. He has a good weight transfer and drives the ball while keeping his hands inside the ball. Defensively he showed good hands and range that can keep him at shortstop. He has a solid arm that likely will get stronger but he is going to have to get a lot more accurate with his throws, which tended to sail. In any case, he is an '09 prospect with physical upside that should get good D1 attention next summer.
