2005 California Top Prospect Showcase
Daniel Bodemer is a 2006 C from Santa Fe Christian HS, residing in Carlsbad, CA, with a 6'2", 170 lb. frame. With a long, lanky, and loose build, Bodemer has a very projectable body type, capable of developing power while remaining athletic. From a slightly open stance he opens his hips as he strides, indicating his desire to pull the ball. He has an aggressive hitting approach. While he gets to pull side easily and his hands work to the ball, he will need to learn how to let the ball get deeper to be able to use the whole field. With his long arms he is capable of good plate coverage and at times does get good extension in his swing. There is some life in swing and his body to suggest good things in the future. Bodemer's arm works, it is loose and quick. He flashes a quick exchange and good feet, indicating that he has a chance to be an average to above average college thrower. He has solid agility and lateral mobility which will allow him to block well side to side and to sit well as a receiver. Bodemer has good hands and shows good in-game reactions. He has an excellent chance to be solid catch-throw backstop with a projectable bat. He is a strong follow into spring of senior year.
