Matthew Eskridge is a 2009 C/3B with a 6'3'', 215 lb. frame from Georgetown, Delaware, who attends Sussex Central High School. Eskridge is a young (2009) player with a big frame and looks very mature for his age. Defensively he receives well behind the plate, and has the ability to block balls in the dirt. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits with a no stride approach. He takes an aggressive swing and doesn't get cheated. Eskridge shows bat speed through the hitting zone and gets good leverage at the point of contact. His power approach, strength, and leverage help produce good raw power that should allow him to hit several home runs. He attacks the ball and takes a full swing with lift, and he looks like he enjoys hitting. His bat will get him in the lineup, perhaps as a corner infielder. Eskridge is a good student as well.
