2004 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
OF Danny Rash: Rash is an athletic looking junior outfielder from Iowa who hits and throws from the left side. Rash has good physical tools right now, with 7.2 speed in the 60 and a strong arm from the outfield and he has some physical projection to him. He took a very good batting practice for us at the Showcase. He has a big load and starts his swing with his hands low, which gives him some upper cut and natural loft to his swing. Rash doesn’t leave anything behind, either. He takes an aggressive, full hack and shows some power potential. We didn’t see the loft and power in the games but Rash did make consistent contact. He also took a turn on the mound and was 76-78 mph with a big breaking 62 mph curveball from the left side. This is a young athlete that college coaches should keep an eye on.
