2016 Top Prospects

Spencer Van Scoyoc  LHP - 2016 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Arizona State

Van Scoyoc was completely on his game on the mound, striking out 9 hitters in 3 innings without issuing a walk. He worked 85-88 mph with his fastball while his curveball was a nasty out pitch.

Grant Judkins  3B - 2016 - Pella, IA
Iowa

Judkins is coming off an incredible summer both on the mound and at the plate and continued to impress. His triple to right centerfield on Sunday was the hardest hit ball this scout saw all weekend.

Kyle Crowl  MIF - 2016 - Council Bluffs, IA
Iowa

Crowl looks as if he's finally started to add some strength to his 6-2/185 frame and it came across both as increased raw bat speed and additional arm strength. The arm strength was especially impressive.

Kole Kampen  LHP - 2016 - Fort Dodge, IA
Iowa

Kampen put on a very impressive performance, especially considering that he is in football now. He worked at 85-87 for 3 innings (7 K's) with a 72 mph curveball that was a swing and miss pitch with outstanding command.

Brady Stover  LHP - 2016 - Huxley, IA
South Dakota State

Stover is another young lefty who put on a dominating performance, striking out 9 hitters in 4 innings while touching 87 mph with his fastball. He's very projectable and should keep getting better as he gets stronger.

Nolan Monthei  C - 2016 - Johnston, IA
Iowa Central CC

Monthei is a very athletic catcher who runs a 6.97 sixty and can really get rid of the ball quickly, posting a 1.87 pop time. His right handed bat is strong and projectable.

Ben Norman  OF - 2016 - Des Moines, IA
Iowa

Norman has always had the athletic tools to be a top prospect but his bat has held him up in the past. This was the best the PG scouts have ever seen him swing it, especially in the games.

Kace Massner  OF - 2016 - Burlington, IA
Iowa

The whole key for Massner will be developing further with the bat. You don't find too many 6-5/190 athletes who can run a 6.34 sixty, as Massner can do.

Ross Kramer  RHP - 2016 - Urbandale, IA
Indiana State/Kirkwood CC

Kramer is a talented two-way talent with a nice 6-2/185 build. He has an aggressive right handed swing at the plate with lots of raw bat speed but may have a higher ceiling on the mound, where he was up to 87 with big downhill angle on his fastball.

Shamus Segersten  C - 2016 - McHenry, IL
Lincoln Trail College

Segersten has a big and strong 6-2/200 build but is still a loose and athletic player both offensively and defensively. He has plenty of right handed bat speed at the plate and a strong arm defensively.

Alex Fedje-Johnson  SS - 2016 - Minneapolis, MN
Davidson

Johnson is a very good athlete with the speed and arm strength to stay in the middle infield. He had an outstanding game at the plate on Sunday, driving the ball hard up the gaps three times and really showing his bat well.

Andrew Morrow  1B - 2016 - Omaha, NE
Michigan State/Fort Scott CC

Morrow is a good all around athlete who can run a 6.8 and play multiple positions well on defense. He has the strength to drive the ball at the plate and hit a game home run on Saturday.

Bryce Ball  1B - 2016 - Mason City, IA
Dallas Baptist/NIACC

Ball swung the bat best in games, where he was much more aggressive and looking to use his power than he was in batting practice. That power is potentially top of the charts in the future.

Luke Eldred  RHP - 2016 - Mount Vernon, IA
Dallas Baptist

Cal Eldred's son is a big young man at 6-3/230 and throws with about as simple a set of pitching mechanics as you will ever see on a young pitcher. He sat at 84-86 mph with a good curveball and really pounded the strike zone well.

Cooper Merrill  SS - 2016 - Mason City, IA
Kirkwood CC

Merrill is a quick twitch athlete with 6.59 speed in the 60 and a fast motor in the games. He has lots of right handed bat speed, especially for a 5-9/160 middle infielder, and can drive the ball into the gaps.

TJ Sikkema  LHP - 2016 - DeWitt, IA
Missouri

A Missouri commit, Sikkema is a pitchability southpaw who has outstanding movement and command of a fastball that reached 85 mph, plus very good feel for his off speed pitches.

Jon Rozeboom  1B - 2016 - Waukee, IA
Westmont College

The 6-3/210 Rozeboon has some serious juice in his bat if he can learn to make enough square contact. He's a good athlete for his size who runs a 7.1 sixty and throws 81-83 mph off the mound.

Johnny Hawk  C - 2016 - McClelland, IA
Alabama/Iowa Western CC

Hawk is an aggressive young catcher with a well balanced all around game. He's quick behind the plate with a strong arm and has a nice right handed swing with some gap power.

2017 Top Prospects

Izaya Fullard  3B - 2017 - North Liberty, IA
Iowa/Kirkwood CC

On-Fullard is a very strong young player but does a good job of maintaining his athletic looseness. He has big right handed power at the plate and also has two-way potential with a mid-80's fastball and good curveball on the mound.

Gregory Bennett  MIF - 2017 - Peosta, IA
Middle Tennessee State/Iowa Western CC

Bennett is a versatile young athlete who has sub-7.0 speed in the sixty and a quick and direct right handed swing that is going to produce lots of line drives and a high average.

2018 Top Prospects

Connor Van Scoyoc  RHP - 2018 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Arizona State

Van Scoyoc was the only 2018 in the Top Showcase and he will be fun to watch develop over the next few years. He worked in the 84-86 mph range with his fastball and his curveball, like his brother's, is a nasty pitch with tight spin and huge depth.
