Ryder Pearson (2028 3B, Schertz, TX) continues to stand out, very good high-70s fastball that gets out front and on top of. Misses bats up in the zone. Good feel to spin, added a loud double to his afternoon and stuffed the stat sheet.

Samuel De Leon (2028 OF, La Joya, TX) on the barrel a good bit and stung a double in game. Strong framed outfielder who knows how to get the barrel out to both gaps. More than comfortable taking hacks in the box.

Jaxson Carr (2028 C, Houston, TX) laced a double and made an awfully impressive turn around the bag to stretch for extras. Has a good feel for the game and the instincts have been on display this weekend.

Daniel Buenrostro (2028 C, Humble, TX) is physical for his age in the box and knows how to get into his strength. Gets on a firm front side and works the barrel out front, creating space and delivering heavy impact with a frame that projects for more down the line.

Jose Melendez (2028 C, Katy, TX) followed a big relief outing last night with a booming triple today. Packs easy strength in the hands and knows what to do at contact. Just has a gamer look and really impacts the ball and uses his physical frame well for age.

Oakley Torres (2028 1B, Belton, TX) big double to his day that was absolutely pieced. Has good bat control for the age group and is a very physical kid who packs a lot of strength and intent at the plate. Also threw good strikes and had some command on the hill, knew his mix well.

Jude Contreras (2028 SS, Richmond, TX) quick arm in relief and went after opposing batters. Trusted his stuff and can really spin it for his age. Good athlete and has all the time to continue to mature into his frame.

Justin Parks (2028 1B, San Antonio, TX) continues to impress with left-handed juice. Tripled deep to the gap, got the head out and produces good backspin. The power and feel to hit really stood out this weekend.

Navy V. Maroon Game Highlights

8/4/2024

Cooper Mitchamore (2028, Cypress, Texas) was extremely efficient in his first inning of work. Retired the side on 9 pitches, 7 of which were strikes. Fastball sat 75, filling of the zone regularly, and offsetting with an upper 60s breaking ball.

Nicholas Fichera (2027, Katy, Texas) followed him for Maroon with a sterling frame, striking out all three batters he faced. Used 70-72 mph fastball to get ahead early in counts before mixing in a mid 60s curveball to keep hitters off balance.

Liam Gutierrez (2028, Houston, Texas) delivered a strong start for Navy, delivering two scoreless frames, allowing just one baserunner. Fastball worked it's way up to low 70s, spinning a decent breaking ball for strikes as well.

John Harrison Socha (2028, Sugar Land, Texas) was wildly efficient, only needing six pitches to navigate the third inning. Sat 72-74 with the heater and flashed a 61 mph curve to induce weak contact. Hit a line drive extremely well allowing him to reach second at the plate as well.

Benjamin Terry (2028, Corpus Christi, Texas) flashed some great stuff in his outing. Four punchouts in his two innings of work. Fastball sat in the upper 70s with some cutting action and he paired it with a well-spun curveball. Certainly some projectability there.

Sean Burgess (2028, League City, Texas) got things going offensively with a well struck ball to right, advancing to third on a misplay by the right fielder. Advanced frame for his age with a lot of upside to dream on moving forward.

Bentley Poole (2028, Cypress, Texas) added a solid piece of hitting on an opposite field base hit in the 5th. Solid approach while showing a willingness to go the other way.

Trystan Cook (2028, Sugar Land, Texas) got things rolling for Maroon with a hard hit base hit to left. Caught the ball in front and moved a runner into scoring position. Came around to score later after some excellent base running.

Easton Larocco (2028, Bonita Springs, Florida) added to Maroon's lead with a base hit the other way in the 7th. Great approach was rewarded with a well-earned RBI.
