Rutan is a strong, athletic built left handed pitcher who comes off the mound with force and power. A fastball reaching the low 60s her bag of pitches also includes drop curve, rise ball, change up and drop ball. The drop curve was most impressive, being a lefty, the ball appears to come into the right handed batter and drop. Her spin rate was reaching the 2000s as her strong wrist snap helped her pitches be most effective. Rutan has the build and the speed, all that is missing is command and gaining maturity in the game,
Defensively, Rutan is a left-handed pitcher who has a strong passion for leading. Rutan volunteered to lead stretches for the entire camp and did an amazing job. On the mound she has an aggressive presence standing at 5’10”. Rutan did an excellent job fielding her position and moving to the ball on the bunts.
Offensively, Emerson is a left-handed hitter who stays tall and connected. She does a great job with use of her lower half. She makes good solid contact and works the ball to all fields. She keeps her barrel behind the ball and has good contact point awareness. She has some solid offensive tools and a high upside if she continues to grow.
