2015 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Philip Quartararo is a 2016 1B/OF with a 6-1 220 lb. frame from Bell Canyon, CA who attends Oaks Christian HS. Large, athletic build with broad shoulders and strong, present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.22 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, short footwork coming off the base, fields ball close to body, hands play at ball, longer release to compact arm action, gets on top of throws and shows solid arm strength across the diamond. From the outfield moves well to the ball, shows a whippy arm action and solid present arm strength, fields the ball out front and gets on top of throws helping to deliver accurately. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a medium hand set. Barrel starts tilted towards pitcher, simple weight transfer through lower half, stays short to the ball with a line drive swing plane. Creates solid jump and carry off the barrel with strength to all fields, power approach and shows ability to drive opposite field, balanced finish to swing. Named to West Coast Top Prospect List. Good student.
