Chris Laieta is a 2024 1B/LHP with a 5-10 200 lb. frame from Staten Island, NY who attends St. Peter's Boys. Recorded a 8.18 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium, durable frame with present lower half strength and plenty of room to physically mature. Primary first baseman with a developing defensive skill set. Incorporates deliberate footwork around the bag, a slightly deep funnel to field and produced accurate throws to the bags. Showed some agility on turns and recorded arm strength up to 80 mph across the diamond. Secondary left-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with a high leg lift into balance and good lower half movements down the slope. Fastball worked in the upper-70s for most of his outing and topped out at 80 mph in this look from a high three-quarters arm slot. Displayed some life to the fastball and generates plenty of swings-and-misses on fastball alone, mixed in slower 2-7 shaped breaking ball that showed loose spin profile and will need to be thrown with more conviction to become effective. Left-handed hitter that hits from an even based stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and leg lift trigger. Incorporates good lower half usage and torques well into launch. Simple, line drive swing path with some feel for the barrel and loud impact when on-time. Fairly consistent bat-to-ball skills with occasional lift to his swing, will continue to improve with minor swing adjustments and additional strength. Solid overall skill set with some upside on the mound, will be someone to monitor over the next few years as he continues to physically mature. Good Student.
