Lily Coil is a 5’6, class of 2025, IF/OF/RHP from Columbus Junction, IA who attends Columbus Community HS. Lily is a strong, powerfully built athlete who plays with controlled aggression and utilizes her noticeable natural strength to excel at numerous positions and at the plate. She is deceptively fast and shows sound quickness. Her 3.24 20 yard/60 foot dash time is impressive, and her 5.54 shuttle shows athleticism. Lily excelled at two spots defensively. In the OF, she attacks everything and plays through the two-handed infield-like fielding action with little loss in momentum. She has a powerfully strong arm that allows her throws to carry and have consistent accuracy. As good as she is in the OF, she is that much better on the dirt where she shows advanced ability that is college ready. She reads the ball well off the bat and shows elite level first step quickness. She positions well and her soft hands and smooth glove allow her to get the ball on its way in a hurry. Her advanced arm strength really plays well in the infield. Her throws are firm and true each time. Big upside on the infield. At the plate, Lily uses the same aggressive approach. Although she may not be asked to bunt much, she can handle the bat. The strong left-handed hitter has natural rhythm in her operation. She is short and direct to the ball and produces plus torque by incorporating a sound lower half into each pass. She has a sound feel for the barrel and the ball jumps. She is more middle-of-the-field oriented currently, but with continued work she should develop into an all fields hitter with the ability to drive the ball out of any park. Big upside with run producing ability as her trademark. Lily has sound projectability as a two-way player who can pitch, hit, and be a standout on the dirt as either a SS or 3B. Her strength and natural ability are unquestioned. Exposure to elite competition and a continued desire to improve should set her on the right path. Almost certain D-I prospect. (cjm)
