Joel Gurule is a 2025 OF/3B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Albuquerque, NM who attends La Cueva. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, clean actions moving to and through the ball, has arm strength and carry on throws, will get under the ball at times with release, aggressive actions throughout. Similar strong arm across the infield, long arm action with deliberate tempo to transfer, shows softness to hands fielding the ball out front; young actions around the bag at first base. Also pitched, side step moving into a high leg lift; short arm action through the back with effort at release, fastball topped out at 82 mph, worked on top of ball early in outing and showed quickness to arm, subtle cut action from release. Worked around the zone, snapped off a 12-6 shaped curveball up to 67 mph for a strikeout and flashed a changeup at 65 mph. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate and a closed stance; upper body dominant swing, full swing path through the zone. Looks to lift at point of contact, occasionally gets uphill with path, shows strength off of the barrel when squared and picked up a pair of hits to center field in game action. Can continue to incorporate additional lower half into swing, comfort working middle to pull parts of field. Very good student. Named to 14u Southwest Top Prospect List.
