2007 Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase
Cody Scarpetta is a 2007 RHP with a 6'3'', 220 lb. frame from Rockford IL, who attends Guilford HS. He has a strong and well developed power pitcher's build and has an outstanding job of remaking his body over the past two years. Scarpetta flashed upper round form in Jupiter in October and solidified that at this event. He has a calm delivery with a quick, compact arm action that hides the ball from the hitter and the ball comes out of his hand effortlessly. He repeats his delivery well and lets his arm work for him. Scarpetta's fastball was up to 94 mph, he threw a lot of 93's and never threw a pitch under 90 mph. His fastball is pretty straight except when low, when it has some heavy boring action. Scarpetta's curveball shows signs of being a plus pitch, it's 76 mph with a hard and sharp 11/5 type of break. His arm speed on his change up is good. Things are coming together quickly for Scarpetta, he has solid pitching mechanics, good command, a strong build and three present professional level pitches. He's a good student signed with Creighton but will get lots of exposure to the scouts this spring.
