2022 PG Softball Winter Scouting Combine - Iowa
Megan Orth is a 5-foot-3, class of 2024 RHP/MIF from Urbandale, IA who attends Waukee Northwest HS. Megan is an emerging, athletic and driven player who shows developing skill at a couple of different positions. In addition to her certain ability on the field, she is also a standout in the classroom. She ran a 5.82 40-yard dash and was timed at 4.00 from home to first. She also posted a 5'4 1/2 standing broad jump. A primary RHP, Megan shows a solid fundamental foundation in the circle. Her four-pitch mix was thrown with confidence. Her mechanical operation was smooth and consistent. All pitches showed commendable spin and were thrown for strikes. Her rise and curveball were particular pitches of note as both showed solid spin and plus action. Her developing change-up and screwball are pitches that have the correct action and will certainly add to her ability as she continues to perfect them. Megan also took a turn in the MIF where her athleticism really shown through. She is quick to position, and her glove is sure and certain. She shows a smooth transition and an accurate, playable arm. Her throws were consistently clocked at 54-mph. At the plate, this RHH is balanced at the ready. She handles the bunt game well and could be an asset to a team in/with this skill. She has a contact-first approach, and her flatter path allows her to impact the ball quite well. Big power is not her game, but she shows an accomplished ability to move the ball to all fields. Megan, with physical maturity, added strength and agility, and exposure to high level competition, should have the opportunity to progress to the next level. With three years left in her HS and travel ball careers, she has the obvious passion and drive to become a solid prospect. Promising future!
