WWBA 18u National Championship Scout Notes: Day 1





Kyrin Long (2021, Birmingham, Ala.), a 6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed pitcher, threw 5 1/3 shutout innings for LB 21 Texas National. The recently decommitted 2021 grad gave up one hit and punched out seven, while showing an electric fastball and sharp breaking ball in the 4-0 victory over Nelson Baseball School. With about a half dozen college recruiters in attendance, the tall slender framed Long ran the fastball up to 94 mph, sitting in the 88-91 range with vertical ride and life through the zone. His secondary offering was a tight breaking ball in the mid-70s that showed bite from his long arm swing three-quarter slot, that had right-handed hitters buckling in the box. The Alabama native looked to be having fun on the bump as he dominated the Nelson lineup with his smooth over head windup and athletic delivery. He scattered the zone a bit in the second inning, but quickly regained his release point and cruised the rest of the way before turning the ball over after 82 pitches. It was an impressive performance by Long and exciting to watch for those in attendance
