The future Vanderbilt Commodore Dean Moss has been getting after it at the Jr. National Showcase this weekend at the East Cobb Baseball Complex.

Moss, an Atherton, California native, can be found during the year attending school and playing baseball at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, the prep school is home to hundreds of student-athletes and focuses on developing their journey through high school and into college.

The 2025 IMG graduate and outfielder is the No.6-ranked player in the country and sure has shown out at this year’s Jr. National Showcase.

On Saturday morning, players ran through sets of workouts, ranging from catcher pop-up times to first base defensive work. Moss shined in the 60-yard dash with a time of 6.78, ranking him in the top 10 on the day. His arm has also shown to be an asset, with his velocity from the outfield topping out at 92 mph.

“I think I showed off a lot of new things that I have improved upon, like my speed and I also have gotten my arm a lot better than it used to be,” Moss said on Saturday. “I think I had some pretty good at-bats too, professional at-bats.”

Offensively, Moss went 1-for-2 at the plate during one of Saturday's showcase games, knocking in one run off a single to center field.

In addition to taking part in the Jr. National Showcase, Moss has also been invited to and taken part in other Perfect Game events, such as the 2020 13u Select Festival and the 2021 14u Select Festival.

“They have prepared me a lot, just the drive to be there,” Moss said about what being a part of the Select Fests has meant. “I think it's prepared me a lot just by being a professional when you take BP and stuff like that. So, I have learned a lot of things from (the Select Festivals).”

Moss, who verbally committed to Vanderbilt in November of 2021, is excited to join the Commodores for both the academic and athletic challenge it will bring.

“What helped make my decision was just the combination of both academics and sports, I think that's a big thing for me. Also, I just love Vanderbilt, I love the atmosphere, and the way they play. They are dogs on the field and that's something that is really important for a place that I go.”

For the rest of this summer season, you will be able to find Moss playing in a handful of other Perfect Game tournaments in West Palm Beach, Florida and Marietta, Georgia.
