Perfect Game High School State Championships

Urbandale, IA

April 20th

Rain cut the weekend short, but it didn’t stop us from getting a few games in on Saturday. The highlighted game of the weekend was the Iowa Outlaws Select versus the Alliance Select 18U- Benge that had a combined 13 committed players, including five University of South Dakota recruits. On the 14u side there were three teams that went 2-0 on the day, Ankeny Extreme 13u, Iowa Gold Fastpitch 14u and X-Plosion Grey ’10. Ankeny Extreme 13u outscored their opponents 24-2.

18U

Julia Roth (2026 Dubuque, IA) of Lady Expos HS Blue, a pitcher and middle infielder, had another successful weekend at the plate. Her solid stance, confidence at the plate and bat speed are a few things that set her apart. To highlight her weekend, Roth hit two homeruns in one game against the Benton Bobcats.

Ana Glawe (2025 Atkins, IA) is a power hitter and catcher/3B for the Benton Bobcats.  Glawe, a multi- sport athlete, demonstrated pure athleticism both in the box and behind the dish. Using a very simple plate approach and stance, her weight transfer generates a ton of power. Glawe finished a perfect 5 for 5 on the day, driving in two runs.

Delaney Mathews (2026 Council Bluffs, IA) of Nebraska Gold 31- Berning is a lefty power hitter that still hasn’t reached her ceiling. Starting in a balanced stance, Mathews has a slight leg lift for a load and powers through her extension. Mathews was the RBI leader of the day with five. These were produced from a home run and a double.

Lauren Ferguson (2024 Cedar Falls, IA) of the Iowa Gold 18u Frantz, and a Culver Stockton commit, is a stellar outfielder and clutch hitter at the plate. Ferguson has a solid stance and beams with confidence. Her bat speed and use of her lower half

Haley Glade (2025 Earlham, IA) a right-handed hitter for Central Iowa Riptide 18U, is a consistent and dominate hitter. She starts with a slightly open stance and is very aggressive at the plate. She finished the day with 3 hits, including a homerun. Glade is also a solid third baseman. She has the ability to play at the next level if she chooses to do so.

Ally Beck (2024 Altoona, IA) of Alliance Select 18u- Redeker lead the day in pitching. A left-handed pitcher, Beck’s fastball was consistently in the 57-58mph range She displayed a nice change up and wasn’t afraid to attack the batter with her rise to obtain the strikeout. She finished the day with 14 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched, which included a no hitter against Interstate 35.

Teya Speltz (2025 Van Meter, IA) of the NE Echoes 18u National Madsen was another pitcher who stood out this weekend. Speltz is working with a four-pitch arsenal of fastball, change-up, rise, and screw. Her curve was working nicely, and her rise ball was highly effective. Her fastball is consistently in the lower 60s. She finished the day pitching five innings and striking out seven.

14U

Reagan Hogan (2028 Ankeny, IA) a utility player for Ankeny Xtreme 13u was the top hitting leader of the day. Starting in a solid stance, slightly open, she does an excellent job of transferring power. Her confidence radiates and she is very aggressive at the plate. She finished her day leading this age group with two homeruns and eight RBIs. As this young player continues to mature in the game, she will be an exciting one to watch.

Another utility player from the Ankeny Xtreme 13u, Tenley Heidemann (2028 Ankeny, IA) had a stellar day at the plate. Starting in a slightly open stance, Heideman uses a small leg kick to transfer and generate power. This set up works well for her as she had three hits on the day including a double, triple and five RBIs. Heideman has not yet reached her ceiling and will only continue to improve in her game.

Abigail Lathrop (2028 Ankeny, IA) of the Iowa Blitz Fastpitch 14u, started her day off with a two-homerun game performance. Lathrop has a very simple plate approach and makes the most of every at bat. She has a ton of raw power and quick bat speed. I am excited to see this player continue to develop in her game.

Eden Ladehoff (2028 Conrad, IA) finished at the top of the 14u division for pitching. Ladehoff is a right-handed pitcher for Iowa Gold Fastpitch 14u. Her fastball is in the low 50s but she works all corners of the zone which makes her highly effective. Ladehoff will only continue to get better as she gains strength and experience in the game.

Reese Curphy (2028 Altoona, IA) of the Iowa Gold Fastpitch 14u, a solid pitcher and hitter, was impressive to watch.  Curphy mixes her pitches in well and works the zone both horizontally and vertically. Her fastball sits in the mid 50s and will only gain speed as she continues to gain strength. She finished the day pitching four innings and striking out seven. In the box, she is a confident hitter with a balanced stance she had two hits on the day including a homerun. Curphy is a player to watch as she matures in her game.
