Juan Diaz is a 2027 MIF/3B/OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Hialeah, FL who attends City Of Hialeah Education Academy. A taller frame with athleticism throughout. Projectable frame. Ran a 6.93 60-yard dash. A primary middle infielder who works well with a narrow base, fielding the ball out front and working with some bend at the waist. He showed shorter steps in his approach and showed some strength in the lower half throughout the round. Full arm action, gets on top of the ball, and kept throws clean across at 82 mph. He showed range working to both sides and flashed the ability to change slots as needed. He was quicker with his feet and got the glove out well to work through it. Also worked out as an outfielder, showing average footwork getting to the baseball and working through it. He showed a shorter arm action from the outfield with a tighter and compact release. A switch hitter. Uses an open stance with an upright setup showing higher-set hands and a high back elbow from both sides of the plate. He used the whole field with some looseness to his swing, whipping the barrel through the zone. There was a little more juice from the right side, whereas the movements on the left side seemed a little more controlled. He had a good rhythm to his actions overall and showed a feel for the barrel during his round of BP. Produced a 90 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing and managed 3 hits in-game. He got on the mound for an inning with a simple operation from the right side. He had a slight leg lift up to the hip before driving downhill—shorter and compact arm action with a three-quarters arm slot with easy arm speed through release. Kept things simple on the mound and worked with an all-fastball attack up to 78 mph. Excellent student. Named to 2023 PG Main Event TP List.
