Austin Buley (2017 RHP, McKinney, TX) might be listed as a primary pitcher in the program but he impressed during his round of batting practice too, showing a full swing through the zone with nice jump and leverage coming off the barrel to the pull side.
Benny Hernandez (2018 1B, Cedar Hill, TX) is strongly built at 5-foot-11, 195-pounds and he did a nice job of incorporating that physical strength into his righthanded swing as he shows solid carry and loud jump to left field and he even went deep on his final swing of the round.
Ryan Tackett (2017 OF, Tomball, TX) is a switch-hitter and he impressed from both sides of the plate with fast hands, though his left swing is a bit stronger at present. He’s able to whip the barrel through the zone with plenty of bat speed and creates solid separation at the point of contact.
Colton Eager (2017 OF, North Richland Hills, TX) has a few timing mechanisms to his swing but he did a nice job of staying in sync for the most part and when he did he was able to drive the baseball. His hands are quick and he clears his hips well in his swing, helping to launch a home run over the right field fence.
Michael Cooper (2017 OF, Missouri City, TX) has a long and very projectable 6-foot-5 frame and as he continues to fill out there will be even more additional jump off the barrel. His swing and mechanics are very simple which allow him to repeat well, staying short to the ball with sound carry coming off the barrel.
Joseph Craig (2017 3B, Blanchard, OK) showed off impressive arm strength yesterday during the drills and he continued to show nicely, this time with the bat. Strongly built at 6-foot-2, 200-pounds Craig shows a nice feel for the barrel as well as quickness to his hands and short, repeatable swing path.
Brandon Morgan (2017 OF, Broken Arrow, OK) has an athletic 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame and though there are some timing triggers to his swing, the bat path is simple and he shows nice quickness to both the barrel and the hands allowing for nice jump off the barrel when on time.
Benjamin McClain Iv (2017 OF, Lees Summit, MO) has a strong and physical build and he uses that strength nicely in his lefthanded stroke. He shows nice bat speed coming through the zone and creates solid torque with his lower half while showing a natural feel for the barrel with hard jump coming off to the pull side.
Watson Timmons (2017 OF, Argyle, TX) begins with an open stance and does a nice job of getting closed at the point of contact while showing both looseness and quickness to his hands. The swing path is short and direct to the ball with line drive contact coming off the barrel, mostly to the pull side with occasional lift out front.
Garett Crews (2017 OF, Frisco, TX) does a nice job of incorporating his physical into his righthanded swing as he’s able to create sound bat speed and interesting carry and jump off the barrel when on time with quick hands and nice torque.
Travis Walters (2017 C, Mansfield, TX) begins with an even stance in the box and shows nice quickness to his hands in his righthanded swing. He shows a line drive swing plane and uses his physical strength well to create carry off the barrel to the opposite field.
Jerry Davis (2017 OF, Arlington, TX) shows very quick hands in his righthanded swing and he does a nice job of working through the ball, showing hard and loud jump off the barrel when squared while staying both short and quick with the swing.
Eric Taylor (2017 1B, Midwest City, OK) is one of the more physical players in attendance at 6-foot-3, 210-pounds and he uses that well in the box, staying short to the ball with occasional leverage out front at the point of contact with solid jump off the barrel.
