17u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1

Batting cleanup for the Royals Scout Team, Cole Pladson (’25, KS) showed why he is regarded as one of the top outfielders in his class. The lefthanded hitter is a sturdy 5-11/185 who uses an even setup and higher handset from the start. His pre-pitch movement is slow and early allowing him to be on time for any pitch and his middle of the field approach makes him hard to deal with. In his first at-bat in the early morning start, he unloaded on a fastball away and smoked a pure, backspin line drive over the 350 mark in left-center field for a 2-run homer. Pladson, an Oklahoma State commit, is light on his feet and moves athletically and looks like the type of hitter that will be successful at every level as he progresses.
