College Baseball at LakePoint:
Friday | Saturday | Sunday

Schedules all across the eastern part of the country were shaken up this week, as frigid and snowy weather led to cancellations and venue changes for many of the top teams in the nation. But, schedules were not the only things changing, as we've seen some teams break into the top 25 rankings for the first time this week, and other top teams run into struggles in week number two of the college season. Pushing their way into the top 25 are UCF (22), Georgia (24), as well as Oregon State (25).

The UCF Knights have gotten off to a fantastic 7-0 start and have the type of deep starting pitching staff and bullpen to continue to rise in the rankings in the coming weeks. And, Georgia enters the fray not only on the strength of their 5-1 record, but by making a major statement by taking two of three in their weekend series against a top 25 opponent, Florida State. While Oregon State's 5-3 record may not jump off the page just yet, this is a team with one of the most exciting crops of underclass players in the country. They've gotten early production from those players, and this could be a team that matures and gels quickly, despite its youth.

The top two spots in the rankings remain unchanged, as Virginia's strong pitching has propelled them to a 7-0 start. The Vanderbilt Commodores haven't dominated their competition like many expected just yet, but their immensely deep roster should allow them time to get healthy. For now, they remain in the top spot. At the moment, however, a strong case could be made that it is a four horse race for the number one spot between Vanderbilt, Virginia, Florida and UCLA. The Gators and the Bruins are coming off particularly impressive weekend series over Miami and North Carolina, respectively. UCLA in particular has opened a lot of eyes with a red hot lineup to go with their high octane pitching staff.
