Colt 45s claim 14u Fall Kick Off
EMERSON, Ga. – In the championship of the PG 14u Fall Kick Off the Colt 45s took down Bones Basesball by a score of 6-3.
The Colt 45s took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Back-to-back singles by Walker Zapp and Brooks Parkerson set the stage for Patrick Mcglon to drive in Zapp from second base on a line drive single to center field.
Bones Baseball took the lead over in the bottom of the second inning. Tanner Hall led off the inning with a single to left field. Broc Wells drew a walk and Gavin Gnagey came in to courtesy run for the Bones Baseball pitcher. Grayson Rainwater then laid down a bunt single to load the bases for D’Angelo Cruz who hit an RBI groundout to shortstop. The next batter, Kaden Garner, drove in Gnagey with an RBI infield single to take a 2-1 lead.
Walker Zapp was at it again with a single to center in the top of the third for the Colt 45s. He advanced to second base on a wild pitch before Clayton Freeman drove him in for the tying run on a single to right field. The score remained 2-2 until the sixth inning.
The Colt 45s broke the game open in the sixth inning and did not look back. After Mcglon walked and Freeman singled, Jackson Harris grounded out to third base for a run-scoring 5-3 putout. The next batter, Brooks Bryan, doubled to left field to score Freeman. Javi Marrero grounded out to shortstop to drive in the fifth run for the Colt 45s and the game was out of reach.
The Colt 45s would grab an insurance run in the seventh before Bones Baseball went scoreless in the bottom half of the seventh as the Colt 45s won the 2017 PG 14u Fall Kick Off.
The MVP of the tournament was Clayton Freeman of the Colt 45s who batted an impressive .500 going 5-for-10 with three singles, a double, a triple and a stolen base.
The MV-Pitcher of the tournament was Tanner Cochran who tossed 6 2/3 innings striking out 16 and allowing just two hits and a single walk.

Carolina Heat walk off as 13u Kick Off champs
EMERSON, Ga. – After going scoreless for six innings, the Carolina Heat rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk off as champions of the PG 13u Fall Kick Off by a score of 2-1.
The opponent US Elite Baseball 13u/GA brought to the hill Justin Davis who tossed an outstanding six innings of scoreless baseball while allowing just two hits. US Elite took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and held that lead for six-and-a-half innings. Alex Shaw drove in Devin Schreck on a line drive RBI single to center field for the lone run of the game for US Elite.
The score remained 1-0 as both Carolina Heat pitchers were dealing. Jacob McGovern and Cole Garrick both combined for seven one run innings allowing four hits and striking out five. Garrick earned the win in the game with an impressive 3 innings allowing just one base hit while fanning three.
The offense was stymied for both teams until the seventh inning when the Carolina Heat rallied in the bottom half. Walks by Jonathan O’Sullivan and Dillon Wilson led to a single by Zachary Leroy that would load the bases for Tyler Ethington. Ethington was hit by a pitch to drive in the tying run for the Carolina Heat with one out in the bottom of the seventh. The next batter, Nolan Evatt drew a six-pitch, bases loaded walk to score the winning run and walk off as champions.
The MVP of the PG 13u Fall Kick Off was the Carolina Heat’s Cole Garrick. In four games, Garrick batted .333 with a single, a double and three RBI with two stolen bases.
The MV-Pitcher of the tournament was Justin Davis of US Elite. Davis threw 8 2/3 scoreless innings allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out two.
