Rawlings Stars National walks off to claim Championship

EMERSON, Ga. – Rawlings Stars National walked off in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim the 2018 PG Super25 11u Georgia Super Qualifier over Home Plate Chili Dogs – Mobley by a score of 6-5. Rawlings Stars National won the game by remaining the lone unbeaten team on the weekend.

It was not easy for the Stars who had to win in comeback fashion. The Stars gave up four runs in the top of the first inning and let up another run in the third inning going down 5-0 before scoring their first run. The Stars would, however, score the next six unanswered to capture the title.

The Stars would score three runs in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI hit coming from Walter Allen and the other two runs coming from a passed ball and an error. Then, in the sixth inning, the Stars would score two more runs of their own. The Stars would get two long and impressive at-bats from Allen and Tyler Lomas to lead off the inning before the damage would be done. Jack McKernan would drive a run in with an RBI groundout before Cade Norton drove in the next run with a single to left field.

The hero of the game came in the bottom of the seventh inning. With runners at second and third and one out with the game tied, Walter Allen drove a flyball to center field that was deep enough to score Garrett Manning from third base for the winning run and the 2018 PG Super25 11u Georgia Super Qualifier Championship earning them a berth to the Super25 National Championship.

The MVP of the tournament was Walter Allen of Rawlings Stars National. Shown in his championship game performance, Allen was a tough out all weekend long. Allen batted an impressive 9-for-13 (.692) that included a pair of homeruns and four total extra base hits.

The MV-Pitcher of the 2018 PG Super25 11u Georgia Super Qualifier was Ty Mobley of the Home Plate Chili Dogs – Mobley. Mobley pitched an outstanding game in the Quarterfinals tossing five innings allowing just three hits while striking out seven and walking none.

Astros earn National Championship berth with 3-2 Win

EMERSON, Ga. – ECB 12u Astros Navy won the 2018 PG Super25 12u Georgia Super Qualifier Championship Sunday with a 3-2 victory over the Roswell Green Hornets. By winning the Georgia Super Qualifier, the Astros earn a paid berth to the Super25 National Championship in Sanford, Florida on June 25-29.

The Astros received strong pitching from Scotty Milbourn and Tyler Gebhart en route to the victory. The duo combined for 6 innings of 7-hit baseball with two strikeouts and only allowing one earned run. The Astros offense was led by Lorenzo Atwell who mustered a pair of RBI on a double in the fourth inning. The double would be the deciding factor in the game as the two runs would put the Astros ahead 3-2. They would not relinquish that lead and would be crowned champions.

The MVP of the 2018 PG Super25 12u Georgia Super Qualifier was Jadon Lundt of the Roswell Green Hornets. Lundt led the Hornets on the weekend by going 6-for-14 (.429) at the plate that included a homerun.

The MV-Pitcher of the event was Blake Gartner of the ECB 12u Astros Navy. Gartner pitched a scoreless inning allowing just one hit and one walk.
