EMERSON, Ga. – The 15th annual 16u WWBA National Championship gets underway in northwest Atlanta beginning Friday, July 6.



After a thrilling 17u tournament over the last week, 384 new teams will flock to 54 different locations in the area to compete for the title of national champion. There will be 48 pools of eight teams, with the pool winners competing in a single elimination championship bracket.

Teams from states as close or far as Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Illinois will be in attendance at this week’s event. Last year’s champions, Banditos Scout Team, returns looking to defend their title. The Banditos have 11 players that have already committed to playing Division I Baseball.

Some of the top players that will be attending the event include: Austin Hendrick (Team Elite Prime 16u), Jared Jones (BPA), Victor Mederos (Banditos Scout Team 16u), Masyn Winn (MWE Bombers 16u) and Josh Shuler (DRB Elite 16u – Sapp).

Other past champions of the event include FL Red Wings/Upper Deck Cougars (co-champs, 2004), East Cobb Astros (2005), East Cobb Astros (2006), Knoxville Yard (2007), Richmond Braves (2008), Canes Baseball (2009), Canes Baseball (2010), South Florida Elite Squad (2011), TGBA (2012), Evoshield Canes (2013), BPA DeMarini Elite (2014), Tri State Arsenal Showcase 1 (2015) and the East Coast Sox Diamond (2016).
