A pivotal day three at the 2020 West Select Championship began with Sticks Southwest 2022 battling for a playoff spot in the 16u division. Long and lengthy righty Traig Oughton (2023, Sun City West, Ariz.) gave them the start they needed going two full innings while striking out two. Oughton’s 6-3 frame already possesses solid physicality and he’s able to generate a pretty effortless 84 mph fastball. It’s a short arm action from a three-quarters to high three-quarters slot and he works through his motion pretty quickly. He doesn’t take a large stride down the hill and he’ll fall off the mound glove side into his finish. He’s a high upside player that already shows some maturity and feel on the hill.
